Mr. Burmeister is Regional Business Development Manager – Northern Europe at Lockheed Martin, Moorestown, NJ. He manages Business Development activities across the Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) Business Area of Lockheed Martin. His territory covers Norway and other Nordic countries, as well as NATO, Germany, the Baltic states, Poland, and Austria.
Previously, Chris was a Business Development lead-in surface radar in one of his lines of business. He led a radar campaign in 2015 and contributed to another one in 2013. Prior to these campaigns, he established new relationships with several overseas companies for collaboration on defense and security situational awareness. He became a Lockheed Martin-qualified International Campaign Manager in July 2012.
Before moving to Moorestown in 2010, Chris led engineers on the Orion Project in Houston, facilitating the resolution of design issues between subsystems teams. His technical background is in flight control, orbital mechanics, vehicle propulsion budgets, and software simulation. He worked as an engineer to qualify flight hardware for the International Space Station, the space shuttle, and the Russian Mir space station.
Chris spent several years in the telecommunications industry in Boston as a product marketing manager. He trained sales professionals in both European and Asian field offices and realized market growth for his company in telephony signaling.
Chris received his BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Kansas and his MBA from Cornell University. He is fluent in German and has occasionally built rudimentary knowledge in several other languages over the past 30 years to supplement his international business interests. He lives with his wife in south New Jersey.
We see Chris’ background as a perfect fit for the role of chapter President, both as an ambassador for the Greater Philadelphia Area and as door opener towards the Norwegian-American network.
